Art Show this Weekend to Benefit St. Croix Schools

Starting Friday and through the weekend, a group of 34 St. Croix artists will showcase and sell their work at Top Hat Gallery in Christiansted. Art St. Croix is a benefit to support fine art programs within island schools, both public and private. Specifically, the hosts hope to provide much needed art supplies to local students. The artists’ purpose is to “cultivate future creatives,” ensuring the next generation of island artists have a chance to discover and foster their talent.

Top Hat Gallery will host the show at 52 Company Street. It will kick-off with an opening reception Friday, March 27 from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m., at which wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served.  Admission will be $20 for individuals or $30 per couple. The Strand Street / government parking lot will be open Friday evening.

On both Saturday, March 28 and Sunday, March 29 the show will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission will be complimentary. The fort lot is available for short-term parking Saturday and Sunday.

Formerly an annual event hosted by Good Hope Country Day School, this year’s show is being hosted by the artists themselves. Now island schools, both private and public, will benefit from the show proceeds.  According to participating artist Lucien Downes, “This show is all about showcasing the artwork that our island inspires and inspiring new artists to create.”
