About Fujin

The key factor which makes this sailboat the world’s fastest catamaran is weight.  Versus using many standard stainless steel parts, the team which built Fujin handcrafted lighter parts made of carbon fiber.

The building process was meticulously planned to spare weight wherever possible.  This included initial computer modeling of the hulls to see how various designs would fare in the waves and to test pressure loading.  This was followed by small scale testing with a 3-D model to test high / low stress areas before the real vessel was built.
