Island Wheels Continued: Car Care

DSC02827

Routine car maintenance is imperative when you live in the Caribbean, as the rough roads and outdoor storage is hard on vehicles (garages or car ports are rarities). Here are a few places on St. Croix that vehicle owners should know about:

– Dealerships
If you have a newer car still under warranty or prefer work to be done by a licensed dealer, Metro Motors near the Golden Rock intersection services Ford vehicles. Chrysler / Dodge / Jeep and Toyota dealers are located in the La Reine area.

– NAPA
Located just south of Sunny Isle’s main traffic light, this is the only national chain of auto part stores on-island. A large store with helpful staff.

– Car Zone
Located at the Five Corners intersection west of Christiansted, this store is another good resource for auto parts with a knowledgeable staff.

– HH Tire and Battery
Located near Sunny Isle in the Sion Farm area, you can’t miss the giant tire marking the outside of this retailer.

– MPH
Also located at the Five Corners intersection, Mike at MPH has an excellent reputation among mechanics on-island.

– 180 Auto Body
Also located at the Five Corners intersection, 180 Auto Body is known for fast turnaround on collision repair, paint jobs, etc. Owner Dan Barron is known for coming in on time and under budget.

– Ram’s Auto Body
Located in the Queens Quarter’s area near the hospital, Ram’s Auto Body is another resource for collision repair and paint.

– Echo Valley
Found in the La Reine area near the row of car dealerships, Echo Valley offers mechanic services and sells tires.

– Malloy’s Tires
Located on the south shore, this tire wholesaler consistently has the most competitive prices on-island.
