If you find yourself pregnant on St. Croix, know that you’re not alone.  It happens more often than average being the unofficial rum capital of the world!  But joking aside, here are some helpful hints to navigating prenatal care and birth on-island:

Imaging Center

When you’re sent for ultrasounds, this office is near Kmart Sunny Isle.


When you’re sent for lab work, Clinical Laboratories offers several locations on-island including Mt. Welcome (east), Sunny Isle (mid-island) and Sunshine Mall (west).  

Prenatal Massage

Visit Roslyn Turner at Tropical Therapy in Gallows Bay, who also offers Lamaze / birthing classes.  

Prenatal Yoga

Catch a class with Shera Elvins at Elements (Brown Chiropractic Wellness Center) or at the beach.  Mommy & Me Yoga classes are also available after your little one arrives!

Maternity & Baby Shopping

  • If you’re looking for maternity clothes, check the racks at the St. Croix Animal Welfare Center Flea Market.
  • Consider maternity shopping online with Old Navy for light cotton fabrics, one of many retailers who will ship directly to St. Croix.
  • As you’re looking for baby gear, check Tamarind Moms if you’re okay with second-hand items.  E-mail the admin ( to be added to this private group.
  • Babies-R-Us and Buy Buy Baby online orders can go through freight forwarders VI Cargo or Paradise Freight.
  • Amazon will ship many items directly including some diapers, wipes and baby formula.
