Ring in the New Year First on St. Croix

Point Udall

St. Croix boasts the easternmost point in the United States, Point Udall.  So when the sun rises on the first day of every new year, it touches our beautiful island first.  Both for New Year’s Eve / Old Year’s Night at midnight and New Year’s Day for sunrise, you’ll find islanders at this east end landmark celebrating.

The U.S. Virgin Islands also do not recognize daylight savings time, so we are one hour ahead of the east coast of the U.S. mainland this time of year.  So midnight strikes at least one hour earlier on St. Croix versus anywhere in the states.

Divi Carina Bay Casino

The casino on St. Croix, also located on the east end, hosts an annual New Year’s Eve celebration.

Several resorts play host to New Year’s Eve parties including Renaissance St. Croix Carambola Beach Resort & Spa on the west end of the north shore.  A dinner will be hosted by The Palms at Pelican Cove mid-island on the north shore.  The Buccaneer, also on the north shore east of Christiansted, will host a special dinner buffet.  Finally, Beach Side Cafe at Sandcastles on the Beach on the west end will host a New Year’s Eve dinner and New Year’s Day brunch.

The Christiansted boardwalk is a fun place to celebrate any occasion.  The Fort Christian Brew Pub is always in party mode and there are often crowds at Comanche Mill Yacht-less Club, Rum Runners and Angry Nate’s.

In Frederiksted, try Blue Moon Cafe for dinner and live music on New Year’s Eve.

eat @ cane bay on St. Croix’s north shore will also be hosting a New Year’s Eve dinner with live music.
