St. Croix AgriFest 2016 Fast Facts

  • St. Croix’s Agrifest is the largest agricultural festival in the Caribbean, drawing traffic from numerous neighboring islands.
  • Many St. Croix residents refer to this annual event as the Ag Fair
  • It came to a close yesterday on the President’s Day holiday (held February 13-15, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily)
  • AgriFest is a showcase of locally made agricultural products
  • Vendors sell food, drinks, fresh fruits / veggies, arts / crafts
  • Jump-Up was held Friday night in Christiansted kicking off an exciting and active weekend for St. Croix
  • 2016 marks the 45th year for the annual AgriFest
  • The theme this year was “soon come”
  • A sub-theme was “agriculture: from brown to green in 2016”
  • The ag fairgrounds are located off Queen Mary Highway mid-island near The University of the Virgin Islands’ St. Croix campus
  • The 2016 Crop Farmers of the Year are Leroy Peets and Phillip Titre of New Breed Farm.
  • Winners of the food fair and youth contest are to be announced, but will appear on the official AgriFest website.
  • The Virgin Islands Consortium took more than a dozen videos at AgriFest and has them posted on the VI Consortium Facebook page, including drone footage from Sunday afternoon.
  • Ferry services were offered by Native Son.  Many U.S. Virgin Islanders chose to fly the sea plane with Seaborne Airlines.
