  • Attendance decreased this year, so community support for local Special Olympians in 2017 and beyond is imperative.

This year’s events followed the new unified approach set-forth by the world games of the Special Olympics, which pairs people without disabilities with Special Olympians for team sports like basketball and soccer.  For example, this year’s new soccer event teamed Special Olympians with students from Arthur Richards Junior High School.  This approach is meant to forge new friendships and remove the stigma attached to mental disability.  This spring, a bowling league associated with the USVI Special Olympics will start.  Anyone with or without disability is welcome to join the bowling team.
