When you live on St. Croix with beautiful weather year-round, it’s easy to stay active and healthy.  The warm sunshine invites you outside every morning if you’re into running / walking, biking or golf.  Of course swimming is the natural choice when you’re surrounded by the clear waters of the Caribbean Sea.  But if you’re more of a gym person, we have places for you too.  Here are some great options for staying fit on St. Croix:

Beeston Hill Fitness Center

If you’re looking for a traditional gym, similar to Gold’s or 24 Hour Fitness in the states, Beeston Hill is your spot featuring an outdoor pool.  They offer classes like spinning, yoga, zumba, boot camp, water aerobics and more.  Beeston also has a variety of cardio machines like treadmills, ellipticals and bikes.  Their weight room is stocked with strength training machines.  Personal training appointments are available and the center is shared with a chiropractic / rehabilitation practice.

Cross Fit Gyms

Two Cross Fit gyms exist on St. Croix: 340 Cross Fit located near Golden Rock and Cross Fit 7 Flags at La Reine.  Cross Fit entails group fitness classes that are non-traditional and different each time to keep muscles challenged.  The focus is on core conditioning.

Virgin Islands Triathlon Federation

St. Croix has an active group of triathletes who train together in small groups.  There are triathlons hosted year-round with shorter sprint and super sprint distance options.  Several are team events for athletes that specialize in one of these sports.  The main attraction for triathletes is the Ironman 70.3 competition held every April / May on St. Croix, a qualifier for the annual Ironman in Hawaii.

Fin Folk Swim Group

For those who enjoy swimming in groups, Fin Folk is an excellent one to join.  Nearly every weekend they choose a new ocean route to swim together.  They often see turtles, sharks, sting rays and other wildlife along the way.

Another great resource for organized swims and triathlons is StCroixSports.com.
