Point Udall, U.S. Virgin Islands

Whether you are planning a trip to St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, or if you have lived here for years but forget all the cool places to take your tourist visitors, be sure that you include a trip out to the Millennium Monument at Point Udall, U.S. Virgin Islands.  While there aren’t any shops or rides there, it is an iconic location, marking the eastern most point of the United States and its territories.

The stone monument, erected in 2000, commemorates the beginning of a new millennium for the United States.  It is a beautiful structure, built from native “blue bitch” stone, that is actually a massive sundial.

Enjoy the ride out to Point Udall on your own or contact a local site seeing company like Tan Tan Tours and ask them to incorporate it into your day trip.  Enjoy the views down to the crashing surf and take a selfie to memorialize your trip to

If you are adventurous and fit, you can follow these instructions and hike down to Jack’s and Isaac’s Bay from a parking area just before entering the Point Udall loop.  Bring a backpack with snacks and drinks and plan to spend some time on this beautiful beach.  Or if you are just after exercise without the beach, opt for the Goat Hill Hike, also accessible from the parking area at Point Udall.  Check out the provided links from the St. Croix Hiking Association if you are not familiar with the area and always hike with a friend…and don’t forget plenty of water.

If you are fortunate enough to be visiting St. Croix over the New Year’s holiday, make the early morning trip out to Point Udall to watch the first sunset of the year…this is an unofficial annual event for people of all ages.  Do you have any pics or videos of your trip to Point Udall?  Please share them with us on our Farchette & Hanley Team Facebook Page.
